Top 5 Reasons to Choose a Farmhouse Stay Over a Hotel
backThere are so many reasons to stay at the farmhouse vs hotel accommodation. From the serene, private setting—ideal for unwinding with friends and family—to the distinctive site-specific artwork, the benefits of a farmhouse stay are high. Below we run you through our top five reasons to stay at Durslade Farmhouse.
Privacy
When you stay at the farmhouse, you’re booking the entire property, ensuring complete privacy for a truly secluded holiday. With six bedrooms, two sitting rooms, a dining room, and a kitchen, plus each bedroom featuring its own ensuite bathroom, you can enjoy plenty of personal space while still gathering comfortably in the shared areas.
Unique artwork
The farmhouse is filled with unique artworks by Hauser & Wirth artists, including two site-specific installations. In the dining room, discover the full-room mural by Guillermo Kuitca, created during his residency at Hauser & Wirth Somerset in 2013. Then, head into the gold-painted sitting room and look up at the Pipilotti Rist installation, where a film fragments through elements found in the local area.
On-site Farm Shop
Just across the courtyard from the farmhouse is Farm Shop Somerset, packed with delicious seasonal food, including a butchery counter with meat from Durslade Farm. Pick up everything you need for each meal during your stay, from fresh pastries, jams, and granola for breakfast to cheeses, chutneys, and foraged sauces for a delicious cheeseboard. Choose wine from the estate’s vineyard or cider from their orchards to accompany your meal. Whatever you need, the knowledgeable Farm Shop team is on hand to answer your questions.
